Morning commute / snack / Abbot Kinney

Discovered this iPhone app: Hipstamatic. Stupid name, but really fun to use - you can switch the "lenses" and use different "film". I still like shooting my own black and white 12o film, but this makes taking pics on your phone really fun. I love some of the colors that it picks up. I'd be interested to see what this looks like for portraits, but KT's my only willing subject out here - might get kind of repetitive..

Shoez

This was unintentionally my second consecutive posting about feet....

I took a field trip to the Melrose Trading Post a few weeks ago and scored this sweet lil pair - not only is the flea market a fundraiser for the school it is located outside of, but there are some amazing antiques, clothes and art. I've been looking for some flat leather shoes with laces for a while, so to find a pair for only $45, the leather already buttery soft, and an almost guarantee they won't also be on millions of other feet?! Priceless.

Walkabout

In an effort to experience a walk in a different way, I started playing around with snapping photos of my feet and the ground beneath them. This turned into a series of walks in Chicago, and a walk to the beach in Venice. The irony? In my decision to create a new type of experience, or a new perspective, I found I was reinforcing the dependency on my phone as I walked around bumping into things...

Getty Villa

These photos are overdue, but it takes a while to find time to process the ol' negatives. We went to the Getty Villa and met our friend John for some brunch on the beach in Malibu a few weekends ago. Didn't realize it was just a short drive up the Pacific Coast Highway. I'm itching for a real road trip soon.

The formwork used in the structures around the Villa imprinted this amazing wood grain texture into the concrete - I know I was supposed to be looking at the Aztec exhibit and the Villa itself, but this had to have been the most beautiful part.

And I realize this gives me up as being a LOST nerd, but the last diptych reminds me of Jacob and the man in black....I know KT will love that.
